Hends Dry BL454 – Strong Barbless Hook for Dry Flies, Emergers and Versatile Fly Patterns
The Hends Dry BL454 is a reinforced barbless fly tying hook developed for dry flies, emergers and versatile fly patterns where additional strength is required without sacrificing a natural presentation. Based on the same proven geometry as the popular BL404, the BL454 features a stronger wire construction, making it an excellent choice for larger trout, grayling and other powerful fish.
Manufactured from premium high-carbon steel, the Hends BL454 features a Down Eye, Fine Strong Wire construction, Standard Shank, Round Bend, Black Nickel finish and a chemically sharpened barbless point with a slightly in-curved profile. The reinforced wire provides additional durability while maintaining the lightweight characteristics required for dry fly fishing, making the hook equally suitable for emergers, wet flies and lightly weighted nymphs.
The BL454 is the ideal choice when a standard dry fly hook isn't quite strong enough, but a heavy-wire model would be excessive. Its reinforced construction provides extra confidence when fishing larger trout with stronger tippets, while the barbless chemically sharpened point ensures outstanding penetration, secure hook holds and easy fish release.
