Wapsi Barred Rabbit Half Skin Magnum Zonked

Premium Magnum Barred Rabbit Half Skin with Pre-Cut Zonker Strips for Large Predator Streamers

Wapsi Barred Rabbit Half Skin Magnum Zonked is a premium rabbit half skin professionally cut into wide Magnum Zonker strips and finished with Wapsi's distinctive barred colour pattern. The wider strips create significantly more profile and movement than standard Zonker strips, making this material an outstanding choice for tying large pike flies, musky streamers, bass bugs, saltwater patterns and other oversized predator flies. The exceptionally soft rabbit fur delivers the legendary lifelike action that has made rabbit strips a favourite among streamer tyers worldwide.

Each strip is factory cut to a consistent width and is ready to use directly from the package. The barred colour pattern adds natural contrast and depth, allowing realistic baitfish imitations to be created with a single material instead of layering multiple colours.

What is Wapsi Barred Rabbit Half Skin Magnum Zonked?

This material consists of a premium rabbit half skin cut into wide Magnum Zonker strips. The increased strip width produces large, full-bodied streamers while preserving the unmatched movement of natural rabbit fur. The soft leather hide is durable, flexible and easy to tie, while the barred dye pattern creates realistic colour variation throughout every strip.

Like all rabbit half skins, any remaining fur can be trimmed and used for natural dubbing, composite dubbing loops or collars, allowing nearly every part of the hide to be put to good use.

FLYFISHING.BG RECOMMENDATION

Compared with standard Rabbit Zonker Strips, the Magnum version is designed specifically for large predator flies, allowing you to build a substantial baitfish profile using a single strip. Compared with Tiger Magnum Rabbit, the barred colour pattern is more subtle and natural, making it suitable for imitating a wide range of forage fish. If your goal is maximum movement, a large silhouette and natural colour variation for pike, musky or saltwater flies, this is one of the finest rabbit materials available from Wapsi.

Classic Applications of Wapsi Barred Rabbit Half Skin Magnum Zonked

Magnum rabbit strips are widely used for large pike streamers, musky flies, tarpon patterns, saltwater streamers, oversized bass flies and other predator patterns where maximum profile and lifelike movement are essential. The barred colouration enhances realism by creating natural baitfish contrast throughout the fly.

Rabbit fur, thanks to its "living" action in the water, is used in almost all types of flies. The strips from it or the so-called "strips" are mainly used in making streamers, and some of them have become absolute classics such as Zonkers for trout, Pike Bunny for pike, etc. The hairs do not stick together and each of them vibrates as if alive, which gives a very appetizing appearance to the streamers. Unfortunately, the rabbit fur "drinks" a lot of water and when casting the streamers are slightly heavy - so it is good to take this fact into account when tying them in relation to the class of fly rod that will be used for their submission. These strips are normally cut, i.e. the hairs are in the direction of the length of the strip.
