SWISSCDC Camoscio Inverno Italian Style

Premium Winter Chamois Hair from the Italian Alps for Dry Flies, Italian-Style Patterns and Dubbing Loop Techniques

SWISSCDC Camoscio Inverno Italian Style is carefully selected natural winter hair from Alpine Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra), sourced from mature wild animals living in the Italian Alps. Winter Chamois hair features longer, softer and slightly wavy fibres that create exceptional movement in the water. For more than fifty years, this material has been one of the hallmarks of traditional Italian fly tying and remains highly valued for classic dry flies and Alpine patterns.

Unlike Roe Deer or Deer Hair, Chamois hair is finer, softer and naturally wavy. Rather than building rigid floating wings, it produces lifelike thoraxes, collars and dubbing loop bodies that come alive with the slightest movement of the current.

What is SWISSCDC Camoscio Inverno?

Camoscio Inverno is a premium selection of natural winter Chamois hair. During winter, the fibres become noticeably longer, denser and softer than the autumn coat, making them particularly suitable for traditional Italian dry flies and modern dubbing loop techniques.

Each patch is carefully washed, disinfected and supplied in its completely natural colour without bleaching or dyeing, preserving the original texture and appearance of this unique Alpine material.

FLYFISHING.BG RECOMMENDATION

Compared with Capriolo (Roe Deer Hair), Camoscio Inverno is considerably softer, finer and naturally wavy. Instead of producing stiff floating wings, it creates incredibly lifelike thoraxes, collars and dubbing loop bodies with continuous movement. Compared with standard Deer Hair, Chamois is not intended for spun hair techniques but for maximum natural mobility. If you tie traditional Italian dry flies or want your patterns to come alive in the current, SWISSCDC Camoscio Inverno is one of the finest natural materials available.

Classic Applications of SWISSCDC Camoscio Inverno

Winter Chamois hair is widely used for dubbing loop thoraxes, collars, legs and wings on traditional Italian dry flies. It is often combined with CDC feathers or rooster hackle to create exceptionally lively and realistic patterns. The longer winter fibres also make it suitable for Muddler heads, larger Mayfly imitations and extended body dry flies.
