Skafars Neon Wax Indicator Tube
Neon Wax Skafars is an innovative product created from a real fishing need. It helps quickly solve several small challenges encountered while Euro Nymphing and can improve strike detection.
The original idea behind the wax is connected with maintaining full contact with the fly during Euro Nymphing. Instead of using a traditional indicator, Neon Wax allows you to create a visual marking on the leader that helps you estimate how deep your fly is travelling in the water column.
Visible markings placed on the leader act as a reference when following changing river depths. They help you adjust your rod position and keep your fly in the zone where fish are feeding.
How to Estimate Water Depth
Measure the length of your tippet and compare it approximately with the depth of the water you plan to fish. After attaching the tippet to your nymph leader, create short wax marks on the leader at known distances. By knowing the spacing between them, you can better understand where your fly is positioned in the water column.
If you are not getting strikes, you can quickly adjust your setup – change the depth or change the fly according to size, colour, weight, or current fishing conditions.
SOFT Version
The SOFT version was designed for easy application and easy removal with a paper tissue. It is not intended to remain permanently on the leader, but to allow quick adaptation to changing water and light conditions.
At temperatures between 10 and 30°C, it usually remains on the leader for approximately 30 minutes to one hour. This can actually be an advantage, as different river sections and changing light conditions often require different markings.
Temperature Limitations
The SOFT version does not tolerate extreme heat or freezing temperatures. Do not leave the tube inside a hot vehicle for extended periods. At high temperatures it may become liquid and change its structure, while below 5°C it becomes hard and brittle.
The wax does not damage your leader. If it accidentally gets on clothing, it can easily be removed by hand washing with soap or detergent.
Competition Use
The wax does not add weight to your equipment and does not improve leader flotation. The product complies with FIPS competition rules.
Colour Usage Tips

TIP FROM FlyFishing.bg
In Euro Nymphing, visual control of the leader is often the key to better presentation. Neon Wax allows you to create your own marking system according to your fishing style, water depth, and specific river conditions.
