Here, the first round of the republican championship in trout fishing with a fly and line on the Vacha River near the village of Mikhalkovo has passed. Extremely dynamic tournament, strong players and new additions. It was definitely a memorable fishing weekend. The first day of racing went well for our team, although the draw didn't give us the most promising pits, we did well, with me going first in the individual standings in the provisional standings. Certainly fishing at a competitive pace is something very different from free fishing, and the emotion surrounding the whole event is simply indescribable. On Sunday, the second day of the race, I mixed up the pits I should fish in - a simple mistake that could have cost me time, but I managed to run from pit 3 to pit 11 in 3 minutes and start just in time. The fish ranged in size from 20 to 40+ centimeters, with mainly balkans being caught, both stocked and local, and some pretty big americanos coming up in the lower reaches of the run. Fishing was mainly on nymph and dry fly, but some fish were also caught on a streamer. Andy and I placed second as a team, with him taking seventh place individually and me winning the race. It was an extremely enjoyable time that wouldn't have been the same without absolutely everyone in attendance! Greetings to all competitors, colleagues and friends.
