Guideline High Water Classic WF Fly Line
The Guideline High Water Classic WF is a premium floating fly line with a long head, designed for technical dry fly fishing in all types of waters. It is based on the legendary Highwater – one of Guideline’s most popular fly lines, which was part of the company’s range for almost two decades.
The High Water Classic preserves the original concept of the first-generation Highwater while combining it with modern construction and a more functional two-tone design. It is a versatile fly line that offers delicacy and control at short and medium distances while still allowing accurate long casts when required.
The torpedo-shaped profile is a favorite among the Guideline GL-Team anglers who regularly fish larger rivers and lakes where line control and stable flight characteristics are essential.
Taper Design
The Guideline High Water Classic WF features a long and balanced WF profile consisting of a 4–4.6 m front taper, followed by a long belly section of 6.8–7.4 m depending on the line size.
This geometry provides exceptionally smooth and stable loops that turn over beautifully at different distances. The long belly section allows excellent line control in the air and provides the stability needed for delicate presentations with long and fine leaders when dry fly fishing.
The rear taper of 1.8–2.2 m is long enough to maintain line stability while still being compact enough to allow effective waterborne casts and different presentation techniques.
Compared to the Experience+ WF, the High Water Classic has a similar head weight but a different casting feel because the mass is distributed over a longer distance. This creates a smoother, more balanced sensation and makes it easier to hold more line in the air.
