The AHREX SA292 is a purpose-built saltwater hook from the Salt series, developed in collaboration with legendary fly tyer Bob Popovics for tying the largest Beast Fleye, Hollow Fleye and other oversized saltwater streamers. Compared to the SA290, this model features a longer shank and an oversized hook eye, making it the perfect platform for creating massive baitfish imitations with impressive profile, natural movement and uncompromising strength.
Equipped with an Oversized Straight Eye for heavy Shock Tippet, a chemically sharpened Needle Point, Small Barb and the corrosion-resistant A-Steel Finish, the SA292 is engineered to withstand the extreme pressures generated by Tarpon, Giant Trevally, Sharks, Tuna and other trophy saltwater species. Its extended shank provides additional tying space without sacrificing hook strength or penetration.
Bob Popovics created the Beast Fleye concept to produce enormous baitfish imitations that remain lightweight, highly mobile and easy to cast. The SA292 expands on the original SA290 by providing additional shank length, allowing fly tyers to build even larger Hollow Fleye and Beast Fleye patterns while preserving perfect proportions and exceptional durability.
