What is Wapsi Spanflex?
Wapsi Spanflex is one of those fly tying materials that belongs on every tying bench. Its highly elastic synthetic fibres can be used in countless ways—from colourful ribbing and segmented bodies to realistic legs, antennae and other animated fly components.
On larger flies, Spanflex makes excellent colourful ribbing, while on stonefly, beetle and terrestrial patterns it creates lifelike legs that move naturally with even the slightest current. This subtle movement often makes artificial flies far more convincing to fish.
Besides its outstanding action in the water, Spanflex is exceptionally durable and resistant to repeated strikes and sharp teeth, making it an excellent choice for both freshwater and predator fly patterns.
