Hends Shellback
Hends Shellback is a premium elastic semi-transparent synthetic material designed for creating realistic shellbacks, segmented bodies and wing cases on nymphs, scuds and other subsurface fly patterns. Its excellent elasticity allows it to conform tightly to the body of the fly, producing a natural three-dimensional appearance that closely resembles the chitinous shell of aquatic insects and freshwater crustaceans.

What is Hends Shellback?
Hends Shellback is a classic fly-tying material developed for creating realistic shellbacks on nymphs and other subsurface patterns. When secured over the body, it produces natural translucency and depth, accurately imitating the chitinous exoskeleton of aquatic insects and freshwater crustaceans.
The material can be used on its own or combined with dubbing, UV resin, Body Quill and other fly-tying materials. Thanks to its excellent elasticity, it wraps smoothly without adding unnecessary bulk, making it equally suitable for traditional fly patterns and modern competition nymphs.

FLYFISHING.BG RECOMMENDSFor the most realistic effect, use Hends Shellback over a natural or synthetic dubbing body and secure it with a thin coat of UV resin or quality varnish. This enhances the material's translucency, increases the fly's durability and gives the finished pattern an even more lifelike appearance. |
