What is JMC Deer Ear?
Deer Ear hair consists of fine, soft fibres with only moderate hollowness. Unlike belly or body deer hair, the fibres do not flare dramatically when tightened with thread, allowing the fly tyer to build extremely clean, controlled wings on small dry flies. At the same time, the natural hollow structure provides sufficient buoyancy for technical surface patterns.
The material is particularly suited to Comparadun wings, CDC & Deer patterns, emergers, delicate Caddis flies and other modern technical dry flies. The shorter fibres can also be incorporated into natural dubbing blends for slim thoraxes and realistic bodies.
