What is Muskrat?

Muskrat fur consists of a dense, fine underfur covered by longer guard hairs. The underfur is prized for creating neat, compact dubbing on dry flies, while leaving some of the guard hairs in the mix produces the natural buggy effect that is highly desirable on nymphs, wet flies and emergers. 

Thanks to its fine texture, muskrat fur twists easily onto the tying thread, allowing fly tyers to create slim, durable bodies with excellent control, even on the smallest hooks. It has remained a staple natural dubbing material for both traditional and modern fly patterns.
