SWISSCDC Super Select CDC Feathers
The Natural Buoyancy for Dry Flies
CDC (Cul de Canard) is one of the most valuable natural materials in modern fly tying. Harvested from the feathers surrounding a duck's preen gland, CDC naturally contains fine oils that work together with its unique fibre structure to provide exceptional buoyancy, subtle movement and an incredibly lifelike appearance on the water.
Unlike traditional rooster hackle, CDC allows flies to sit naturally in the surface film while trapping microscopic air bubbles within its fibres. This creates an exceptionally realistic presentation that perfectly imitates emerging aquatic insects, making CDC an essential material for selective trout and grayling.
Today, CDC is used in countless proven fly patterns including the F-Fly, CDC Comparadun, CDC & Elk, Shuttlecock Emerger and Loop Wing Emerger. Its remarkable buoyancy and natural movement continue to make CDC one of the most trusted materials in contemporary fly tying.
Swiss Precision Meets Hand-Selected Perfection
SWISSCDC Super Select represents the premium selection within the SWISSCDC range. Every feather is individually hand-selected by experienced specialists to ensure exceptional fibre density, uniform size and outstanding tying performance. Only feathers that meet the highest quality standards become part of the Super Select series.
Each pack contains approximately 100–120 carefully selected CDC feathers, measuring around 3–4.5 cm in length. Thanks to the strict selection process, nearly every feather is fully usable, reducing waste while providing remarkable consistency from one fly to the next.
Like every SWISSCDC product, these feathers are harvested exclusively during the winter season, when CDC reaches its optimum structure and natural properties. The feathers are then carefully cleaned, disinfected, selected and processed in Switzerland while preserving their natural oils, ensuring excellent flotation, durability and the delicate movement that has made CDC indispensable for modern dry fly tying.

FLYFISHING.BG RECOMMENDATIONSWISSCDC Super Select is an excellent choice when you want the highest possible consistency between flies. Sort the feathers by size before tying and reserve the finest feathers for technical emergers, while using the larger feathers for mayflies, caddis patterns and full-wing dry flies. This simple habit delivers cleaner, more repeatable tying results. |
