Hends CDC Feathers

The Natural Buoyancy for Dry Flies

CDC (Cul de Canard) is one of the most valued natural materials in modern fly tying. Collected from the area around a duck's preen gland, these feathers are naturally coated with fine oils that, together with their unique fibre structure, provide exceptional buoyancy, delicate movement and remarkable lifelike appearance. Unlike traditional dry fly hackle, CDC allows a fly to sit naturally in the surface film, creating an incredibly realistic presentation that trout and grayling find difficult to resist.

The extremely fine fibres trap microscopic air bubbles while responding to even the slightest current, giving CDC flies their famous "breathing" action. This unique combination of buoyancy and movement has made CDC an essential material for modern dry flies, emergers and subtle nymph patterns, where a natural silhouette often makes the difference between a refusal and a take.

Patterns such as the F-Fly, CDC Comparadun, CDC & Elk, Shuttlecock Emerger and Loop Wing Emerger have become worldwide favourites thanks to the exceptional properties of CDC. Whether you're tying your very first dry flies or preparing competition-level patterns, quality CDC feathers remain one of the most indispensable materials on every fly tyer's bench.

Premium CDC Feathers by Hends

Hends CDC Feathers are carefully selected natural duck feathers that offer an excellent balance of quality, consistency and value. Available in a wide selection of natural and dyed colours, they are suitable for tying everything from tiny CDC emergers to highly visible dry flies and realistic winged patterns.

The feathers feature fine fibres with excellent natural movement and buoyancy, making them ideal for tying wings, collars, thoraxes, legs and complete CDC bodies. Their versatility has made Hends CDC one of the most popular choices among recreational anglers and competition fly tyers throughout Europe.

Whether you're tying delicate spring creek dry flies, Euro-style emergers or classic CDC attractor patterns, Hends CDC Feathers provide the natural performance that has made CDC one of the most revolutionary fly-tying materials ever discovered.

FLYFISHING.BG RECOMMENDATION

For the best floating performance, avoid excessive thread pressure when tying with CDC. Keeping the fibres free preserves their natural movement and buoyancy, allowing the finished fly to sit correctly in the surface film. After fishing, dry the fly thoroughly and restore the CDC fibres with a suitable powder desiccant to maximize performance.
