What is the Whiting Pro Grade 1/2 Cape?
The Whiting Pro Grade 1/2 Cape is a genetically bred half rooster cape produced to the same quality standards as Whiting's full capes. Although it contains fewer feathers than a full cape, the feather quality itself remains identical, featuring dense barbules, supple stems and minimal webbing for superior dry fly performance.
The difference between Pro Grade and the higher Whiting grades is not feather quality but feather quantity and distribution. Pro Grade capes typically contain fewer of the smallest hackles while offering a larger proportion of the highly practical sizes around hooks #14–16, making them ideal for everyday trout fly tying.
