Fire Fly is an attractive dry fly designed to imitate a firefly – an unusual but potentially important food source for fish during certain periods of the season. Its characteristic profile and bright accents make it suitable for surface fishing when fish are feeding on insects that have fallen onto the water from surrounding vegetation.
Fireflies are mainly active during the warmer months, and under suitable conditions individual insects may find their way onto the water. Fire Fly is an interesting pattern to experiment with when fishing close to grassy and overgrown banks, particularly when fish are interested in larger terrestrial insects.
Best for: Trout, Grayling, Chub
Ideal conditions: Warm months, areas close to vegetation and overgrown banks, surface feeding situations.
